It starts with the wood

Three characters.
One shared table.

Every grain has something to say. We leave room for it—then add a little detail that makes the story yours.

Mediterranean olivewood

Expressive. Warm. Unmistakable.

Golden tones and flowing, dramatic grain. Our lead material brings its own character to the table, leaving room for a small, personal detail.

Walnut

Rich. Grounded. Understated.

Deep brown tones and a quieter rhythm of grain. A rich visual foundation for our serving-board and wine-tray design explorations.

Maple

Light. Quiet. Timeless.

Creamy, pale tones and subtle grain. A fresh contrast to olivewood and walnut, introduced here as a material direction—not a confirmed product.

A small detail. A deeper meaning.

Make it
mean something.

The family name. Two initials.
The day a new chapter began.

Sometimes the simplest detail carries the most meaning. We're exploring understated personalization that complements the wood, rather than covering it.

Try a name, initials or a date in our layout illustration. It is a place to imagine—not an order or a production proof.

Abstract wood-grain brand artwork

I'm Mike, the maker behind
The Habitatist.

The Habitatist is my standalone brand for gathering and gifts: considered pieces for the table, the host, and the people who make an occasion feel personal.

As a veteran-owned business, The Habitatist brings together CNC shaping and diode-laser customization with a warm, refined point of view. My focus is on useful details and personalization that leaves room for the natural character of the wood.

The Habitatist is operated by SCMW, while keeping its own identity and a dedicated focus on wooden gifts and serving pieces. The Gathering Collection is taking shape. Thank you for being part of this next chapter.

Mike / The Habitatist

Where our story began

The Habitatist began with architectural wildlife habitats. That work remains a small but meaningful part of our story. Existing habitat customers can still contact Mike through their Etsy order or the details on their original receipt.

Where can I place an order?

Visit our Etsy shop using any shop link on this page. Active listings, available options and purchase details are confirmed there. This website does not accept orders or payments.

Are the Gathering Collection designs available yet?

The Gathering Collection shown here is in development. These are design concepts, not confirmed items for sale. Check our Etsy shop for actual listings and availability.

How does personalization work?

Each Etsy listing will describe its available layouts, permitted text and instructions. Check spelling and punctuation carefully. Our browser-only illustration saves and sends nothing; it is nonbinding and is not an engraving proof or an order form.

How do I choose a wood?

Olivewood brings expressive grain and honeyed warmth; walnut has deep, chocolate-brown tones; maple is light and quiet. Natural character varies from piece to piece. The Etsy listing will confirm the material and details of the actual piece.

Is a bowl, glass or gift box included?

Only if the selected Etsy listing explicitly says so. Gather & Dip is conceived around a particular removable glass bowl, so bowl fit is specific. The Evening Tray's glass compatibility and handling require testing. Props and packaging concepts are not promises of what is included.

What about care, shipping and returns?

Refer to the selected Etsy listing and shop policies for care, processing, shipping and return details. Those details may vary. This website does not make food-contact, finish, processing or delivery guarantees.

What about my previous habitat order?

For an existing Etsy order, use your purchase history to contact Mike about that order. For an order placed elsewhere, use the contact details on your original receipt. Our wildlife-habitat history remains part of the brand, even as this site focuses on gathering and gifts.
